Track your progress in Grade 5 Theory
Progress Score

Every time you take a practice question test your answers are recorded. Questions range in difficulty from Grade 1 to Grade 5 across all six key curriculum areas:
- Musical terms and symbols
- Notation, clefs and intervals
- Rhythm, rests and time signatures
- Keys and scales
- Chords, cadences and harmony
- Instruments and orchestration
Each correct answer will score 1 point per grade of difficulty. For example:
1 x Grade 1 correct answer = 1 point
1 x Grade 3 correct answer = 3 points
1 x Grade 5 correct answer = 5 points
However, you will also lose 1 point per grade of difficulty for every incorrect answer. For example, if you answered 10 Grade 4 questions correctly but answered 5 Grade 5 questions incorrectly you total progress score would be:
10 Grade 4 correct answers = 40 points
minus 5 Grade 5 incorrect answers = 25 points
Total = 15 progress points
You can monitor your improvement in each topic with individual progress scores for each area. This allows you to see at a glance if your keys and scales are great but your chords and cadences could use some work.
When your score hits 500, you can be confident that you are ready for the real exam!
